Conservatory Wooden Blinds

Wooden blinds in a conservatory are a popular choice as they can look wonderful, giving either a traditional or contemporary feel. The problem with real wood blinds is that they will be subjected to strong sunlight during the summer. This can be a problem as the wood can dry and warp as well as fade. If they warp then the blind itself can be prevented from working.

Providing shade from the heat of the sun is all very well, but the sun's light will make them very hot. This heat will radiate through into the conservatory and can make it unbearably hot.

Wood blinds are available in horizontal and vertical styles, but these are not always suitable for conservatory roofs. This is as they are really only suitable for rectangular windows, whereas many conservatories use triangular window designs.

Rather than creating a hot-box atmosphere in your conservatory, solar protective window film will cut glare, UV and thermal radiation without obscuring the view. You can still fit blinds of your choice for aesthetic purposes over the top, while still getting the UV protection of the window film. In fact the film will prolong the life of your blinds.
